Completing my yoga teacher training in Costa Rica (at the Costa Rica Yoga Spa with Marianne Wells) was both the pinnacle of my personal training and the re-launch of my journey into a deeper understanding and appreciation for all that yoga can offer us. "Your asanas are your meditation" is the core of my belief and how I practice and teach. Yoga is a life journey . . .

The roots of my journey into yoga began with my intensive ballet training as a child. After graduating from the University of Waterloo with a degree in dance and kinesiology I taught ballet and creative dance to children and adults for several years. My love and knowledge of dance grew as I worked for the National Ballet of Canada and most recently Boston Ballet in development. After years away from dance as I focused on raising my children, I realized that I needed to go back and follow my heart - go back and find that strength, peace and joy again in myself.

Over the past four years I have studied Bikram, hatha and vinyasa flow yoga, and I am currently  actively studying and practicing yin yoga and meditation.  I enjoy all types of yoga and find a mix of styles and ideologies both energetically and physically rewarding.   My teacher training was largely focused on the Iyengar method, which emphasizes alignment and safety - and the philosophy of yoga - a great foundation for teachers!

My personal path in yoga as a teacher recently included completion of a 500 hour RYT certification with Sarah Powers, creator of Insight Yoga - a practice that merges yin, vinyasa flow and mindfulness meditation.  I am fortunate to have had the opportunity to practice and study with inspiring teachers around the world as part of this training. I traveled to Thailand in 2013 to study 100 hours of teacher training with Sarah Powers to deepen my personal practice and strengthen my teaching. In March of 2015 I traveled to California for another 50 hour training on psychospiritual practices (meditation) with Jennifer Welwood, and in the fall of 2015 I traveled to Bali to study yin, anatomy and chakra meditation.  Over the last 2 years I completed 200 hours training in the Four Foundations of Mindfulness with Sarah and Ty Powers. In January I attended a 5-day silent retreat at the Insight Meditation Center in Barre, MA. And in June of 2016 I completed a 50 hour Yoga for Cancer training with Tari Prinster in New York.

In the fall of 2014 I joined the Center for Integrative Counseling and Wellness in Hingham, working with clients enrolled in therapy at the Center.  I work with individuals and small groups, and focus on teaching clients how the asanas, breath work and meditation can be used as part of their healing, and how they can incorporate these practices into their lives.  It is one of the most rewarding teaching experiences I have ever been a part of.

Teaching has been one of the most rewarding passions I have found in my life, and I look forward to sharing my passion with you!
